What is Shopify SEO Features ?

Let’s start using Shopify’s built-in SEO tools without any additional software. plugins, or extra development.

Easy title tag and meta description customisation

On any page, collection, product, or blog post you’ll find an “Edit Website

SEO” section:

When you click this, you can change the Title Tag, Meta Description, and URL / Handle.

This makes it quite simple to modify these essential On Page elements.

SEO factors, unlike platforms like WordPress where you’d need to install a third-party plugin.

Default Robots.txt setup

A file called Robots.txt instructs robots, such as search engines, on how to behave, with your website.

By blocking access to pages like cart/shopping pages, account pages, and search query pages by default, Shopify excels at this. Most stores won’t need to customise this.

However, you can now change it if you’d like.

Our Shopify Robots.txt guide explains how.

Easy 301 redirects

For 301 (permanent) redirects, many systems need plugins and programmes, however Shopify can do this with only a few simple clicks.

Go to Online Store > Navigation to get started.

Then select View URL Redirects.

After that, you may select between Import and Create URL Redirect:

We have previously used Import for a client who uninstalled their website to import hundreds or perhaps thousands of 301 redirects at once.

AMP feature.

For most cases though, you’ll just do one at a time:

Setting the From and To relative URLs, followed by Save Redirect, is all there is to it.

If the original page still exists, the redirect won’t work, therefore the only additional step you might need to take is to delete or rename it.

Auto-generated sitemap

If creating, optimising, and updating a sitemap was ever required of

you’re in luck.

With Shopify it’s already done. That’s it.

As you create pages, products, collections, and blog posts they’ll all automatically be added to your sitemap and organised in a simple way.

Default server setup

Shopify has a quick server built in, excellent uptime and dependability, a CDN that is already configured, etc.

Compared to doing it yourself, where you probably require a full-time employee, this is far simpler.

Most themes are SEO friendly

Although that might not always be the case, most of the clients I’ve worked with had themes that were fairly well optimised.

This includes having structured data, breadcrumbs, and suitable heading structures.

That’s not to imply there aren’t problems; in fact, there are frequently lots of them, including problems with internal links, but these are generally easy to fix.

Great App Selection

If the aforementioned capability is still insufficient, you can employ one of the thousands of Shopify Apps available.

For things like image optimisation, image sitemaps, geo-location pages, translation, and more, this is excellent.
